Pathaan Controversy Ayodhya Seer Says 'Will Burn Shah Rukh Khan Alive'

In a violent statement made on Tuesday, the seers from Ayodhya threatened to kill Shah Rukh Khan. The statement was made in the context of the entire controversy around the actor’s song ‘Besharam Rang‘ from his upcoming film ‘Pathaan‘ in which he is seen romancing a bikini-clad Deepika Padukone. Several fringe groups and political leaders have objected to Deepika wearing a saffron-coloured bikini in the song. On Tuesday, Mahant Paramhans Acharya of Tapasvi Chhavni said he would even go to the extent of burning Shah Rukh alive if he ever met him, reported news agency IANS. He said the makers of the ‘Besharam Rang‘ song have insulted the saffron colour which is associated with the Hindu religion.  “People of our Sanatan Dharma are protesting continuously regarding this. Today we have burnt the poster of Shah Rukh Khan. If I get to meet the film Jihadi Shah Rukh Khan, I will burn him alive,” the seer said. Paramhans also called for a ban on Pathaan and warned against vandalising theatres if the film was released on the big screen. He said he would set the theatres on fire if they screen the Siddharth Anand directorial. The statement came after the priest of Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya, Mahant Raju Das, also protested against the YRF entertainer. This is not the first time a Bollywood actor has been attacked for simply making a film. Earlier, during the filming of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, a fringe group threatened to chop Deepika’s nose if the film was not made as per their sensibilities. Several incidents have happened in the past when the film industry has been attacked blatantly for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.  Pathaan, meanwhile, hits the screens as the big Republic Day release on January 25. It also features John Abraham in the leading role. Watch this space for all the latest udpates on the film!

Following the detection of the BF.7 variant in India, a new COVID-19 advisory has been issued by the Central Government. Earlier on Wednesday, Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a meeting with senior officials and experts to review the Covid-19 situation in India. Following this meeting, the Health Ministry directed all states and union territories to remain vigilant and directed citizens to wear masks once again. Till now, four cases of the BF.7 variant have been detected in India. Two cases have been reported from Gujarat and two from Odisha. The Union health minister has even asked people to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks in crowded places and getting vaccinated. During the meeting, it was highlighted that Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu are the top five states contributing in terms of new Covid cases even though there is a consistent decline in the overall Covid caseload in the country. These five states accounted for 84 per cent of the daily new cases reported on December 20, 2022.

What is Omicron sub-variant BF.7?

As per the news agency PTI report, BF.7 is a sub-lineage of the Omicron variant BA.5 and has the strongest infection ability since it is highly transmissible, has a shorter incubation period, and a higher capacity to cause reinfection or infect even those vaccinated.

Will School, College be Close?

Keeping this in mind, schools and colleges are expected to be more vigilant, and safety protocols will be enforced once again for the safety of students, teachers, and school staff. COVID-19 alerts and notices will also be distributed to schools. Based on previous lockdowns and COVID-19 safety protocols, students, teachers, and all other school personnel should be vaccinated, this time, with all three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. All students and teachers would be required to wear masks at all times and maintain social distancing during school hours. The Central Government and respective state governments will issue an official order regarding the closure of schools and colleges. Schools and colleges will remain open for the time being unless orders are issued to the contrary.Due to the ongoing cold wave, schools are currently changing their school timings. Schools in Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Ghaziabad have changed their school hours. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced that all schools in the state will open at 10 am from December 21 till January 21 due to foggy weather. The closing time of the schools will remain the same, he said. “In view of the safety of school students and teachers because of dense fog in the state, the timing of government, aided, recognised and private schools will be 10 am from 21-12-2022 to 21-01-2023,” said Mann in a tweet. The sudden rise in positive cases in countries such as the US, Japan, Korea, Brazil, and China has caused concern among Indian authorities.

Back in November, Raja said that the Pakistan cricket team won’t travel to India for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023 if the Men in Blue don’t visit the neighbouring country for the next year’s Asia Cup. The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in Pakistan in September of next year. However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) last month said that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the Continental championship and demanded that the event be moved to a neutral venue. “If Pakistan doesn’t take part in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear stand: If the Indian team comes here then we will go for the World Cup. If they don’t come then they can play the World Cup without us,” Raja told Urdu News.

Opposition parties, barring Trinamool Congress and AAP, boycotted the proceedings in Rajya Sabha for the day on Thursday after their demand for an immediate discussion on India-China military clashes and border row was disallowed in the House. The boycott exposed the chinks in Opposition unity as AAP and Trinamool Congress, which first walked out of the House with other Opposition MPs, returned to the House to participate in Question Hour. AAP and Trinamool Congress leaders claimed that there was no decision on boycotting the proceedings during a meeting of Opposition floor leaders chaired by Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. They pointed out that they walked out with other Opposition MPs in solidarity. At the Opposition leaders’ meeting, sources said various strategies were discussed, including walking out and boycotting the proceedings for a day. The Opposition was also up in arms against Leader of the House Piyush Goyal’s comments, which they said were insulting to Bihar and its people.
