Gyms, cinema halls, swimming pools and yoga centres have been allowed to function with 100% capacity while strictly adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour and guidelines, reads a Karnataka government order.

Further relaxing the restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Karnataka government on Friday decided to allow theatres, gyms, yoga centres and swimming pools in the state to operate at full capacity. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai with the Health Minister, senior officials and technical advisory committee representatives. “Certain curbs like – theatres, gyms, yoga centres, swimming pools among others to operate with 50 per cent capacity had continued. At today’s meeting, it has been decided to relax these curbs by following certain precautionary

measures,” Health Minister K Sudhakar said. Speaking to reporters here after the meeting, he said the decision has been taken after considering the current COVID situation and the rate of hospitalisation which was 5-6 per cent in January, coming down to 2 per cent. “Theatres and film industry had faced losses due to COVID, so aimed at creating a conducive atmosphere for them to carry on with their activities and for the benefit of the people, it has been decided that theatres can operate with 100 per cent seating capacity from tomorrow itself. Similarly gyms, yoga centres and swimming pools can also operate with full capacity,” he added.

• Stating that certain precautionary measures will be released in the form of a guidelines that has to be followed, the Minister said those going to theatres should wear masks compulsorily.
• Food items will not be allowed inside the cinema hall, he said.
• Further, two dose vaccination is mandatory for those entering theatres, gyms, yoga centres, swimming pools.
• Authorities, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials will keep check on the implementation, and will take necessary action in case of any violation.

With the third wave of the pandemic receding, the government had recently decided to remove most of the curbs, including revoking the daily night curfew and 50 per cent seating limitation on pubs, restaurants, hotels and eateries, and allowing schools to resume physical classes in Bengaluru. Earlier, the government had also lifted the weekend curfew.

Reacting to the incident, some of the Twitter users said Taliban doesn’t allow girls to go to schools and colleges. “In India, Sanghi Genocide Enablers are preventing Muslim Girls wearing headscarves from entering Schools and Colleges. They are scared of educated Muslim Women. Very scared,” a Twitter user said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today (Friday) filed his nomination from the Gorakhpur Sadar (Urban) Vidhan Sabha seat with Union Home Minister Amit Shah by his side. The eastern Uttar Pradesh seat is crucial for the BJP in many ways. A comprehensive victory here would answer to critics of the Yogi-style of functioning. However, the entry of Chandrashekhar Azad, chief of Bhim Army, has made the contest significant, at least for the watchers. It is Yogi Adityanath’s first fight for the MLA seat, though he has represented Gorakhpur as a Member of Parliament in 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. Gorakhpur Sadar (Urban) Vidhan Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh is set to witness a high-octane battle as incumbent Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will face a tough fight in his home turf since Bhim Army Chief’s Chandra Shekhar Azad has decided to contest the UP elections from the prestigious seat. The incumbent chief minister is the second leader to contest from the district as a Chief Minister after Tribhuvan Narayan Singh, who lost in 1971. Adityanath, who is popularly known in the region as ‘Mahant ji‘ because of him heading the famous Gorakhnath temple, has served as the Lok Sabha member five times from Gorakhpur since 1998. The Hindu Yuva Vahini — founded by him in 2002 — also has a considerable presence in the area. Reports suggest that Adityanath’s footprint is visible in the selection of BJP candidates in the Gorakhpur region in particular. Adityanath is a member of the state election committee which sorts out candidates and party sources say that he wields considerable influence in the process.

BJP’s Stronghold in Gorakhpur

In 2017, Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal of Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Congress’ Rana Rahul Singh with a margin of 60730 votes. Soon after the BJP decided to field UP CM Yogi from his bastion and party stronghold there were mixed reactions from political parties on the matter. Main opposition Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also sought to woo the sitting BJP MLA Radha Mohan Aggarwal, offering him his party ticket for the seat. For the unversed, BJP MLA Radha Mohan Agarwal has been the MLA from Gorakhpur Urban seat since 2002. Agarwal became the BJP’s candidate in 2007, 2012 and 2017 Uttar Pradesh polls from Gorakhpur Urban seat.

Dabolim is a village in Mormugão and one of the 40 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Goa. In 2017, Mauvin Heliodoro Godinho of Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Premanand Nanoskar from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak with a margin of 2494 votes. This time, the Goa assembly election is all set to be a multi-cornered contest with the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), set to give the ruling BJP a tough fight. While AAP has announced that it will contest all the 40 seats, the TMC has allied with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP). The Congress has joined hands with Vijay Sardesai’s Goa Forward Party (GFP). In the 2022 elections, Six-term MLA and transport minister Mauvin Godinho is being challenged by Kargil war veteran Capt. Viriato Fernandes in Dabolim, home to the Indian Navy’s most important air base, INS Hansa. Meanwhile, AAP’s Premanand Nanoskar is also another player in this intense, multi-cornered fight. According to experts, Fernandes, though a political newbie, has a clean image, which is in sharp contrast to Godinho, who faces charges in a multi-crore power scam.

What does opinion poll say?

According to a poll conducted by Zee News, termed – ‘Janata Ka Mood’, Congress is gaining big in South Goa, the Congress-GFP alliance may get 41% vote share here, while BJP may bag 32%, TMC-MGP is likely to get 12%, Aam Aadmi Party 7%, and others may get 8% vote share. For North Goa, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to gain 38 per cent of the vote share in the region as compared to 36 per cent in 2017. The vote of the Aam Aadmi Party is also likely to increase its vote per cent from 6 per cent in 2017 to 10 per cent in 2022.

MIM नेता ओवैसी ने कहा कि मैं मौत से नहीं डरता हूं. मुझे Z श्रेणी की सुरक्षा नहीं चाहिए. मुझे A श्रेणी का नागरिक बना दीजिये. मैं चुप नहीं रहूँगा. कृपया न्याय कीजिये. जिन्होंने हमला किया उन पर UAPA के तहत कार्रवाई हो. ओवैसी ने कहा कि इसके साथ ही केंद्र सरकार नफरत और कट्टरता खत्म करने के लिए कदम उठाये और अपील करे.

Hurt by his remarks against a religion: Accused who fired at Owaisi

UP Police ADG Law & Order Prashant Kumar said on Friday that the two accused who allegedly fired gunshots at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi claimed they were hurt by his remarks against a particular religion.
