After a night curfew was imposed in Karnataka over rising Omicron cases, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said that the decision was taken in the interest of public health.”People would have to strictly follow COVID-19 norms at tourist spots,” Bommai told media persons. India has recorded 578 Omicron cases so far, out of which 31 are in Karnataka.
Kerala to see 10pm-5am night curfew from Dec 30 to Jan 2 amid Omicron
The Kerala government on Monday announced a night curfew between 10 pm and 5 am across the state from Thursday (December 30, 2021) to Sunday (January 2, 2022), amid a rise in Omicron cases. Shops and establishments have been ordered to close at 10 pm and citizens have been asked to avoid unnecessary travel and gatherings at public places.
Newlywed Algerian footballer Loukar 30, suffers heart attack during match, dies
Algerian footballer Sofiane Loukar passed away aged 30 after suffering a heart attack during his team Mouloudia Saida’s match against Oran. Nine minutes before suffering the heart attack, Loukar had collided with his team’s goalkeeper and suffered a head injury. However, he was cleared to resume the match. Loukar had got married a week before his death.

Successive search operations on premises linked to arrested UP perfume industrialist Piyush Jain have revealed ₹17 crore cash and 23 kg gold (worth around ₹11 crore) with foreign markings, the Ministry of Finance said. Huge unaccounted raw materials including 600 kg of sandalwood oil worth ₹6 crore, hidden in underground storage was also found, it added.

Air India handover to Tata Group to be delayed by a month: Report
The government’s plan to handover Air India to the Tata Group is most likely to be delayed by a month, PTI reported citing an official. Some regulatory approvals and certain formalities are yet to be completed, the report said, adding that the process is likely to be completed by January. Recently, the CCI approved Tata Group’s acquisition of Air India.

Several visuals have surfaced on social media which showed the Delhi Police personnel forcefully detaining doctors protesting against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling in the national capital. The protest was held by the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), which issued a statement over the incident and called it a “black day in the history of the medical fraternity”.
5G services to be rolled out in 13 Indian cities next year, list released
India’s Metro cities are among the first few cities that will get 5G telecom services from next year, the government said on Monday. The services will be rolled out in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jamnagar and Gandhinagar. The government plans to hold spectrum auctions for 5G in March-April 2022.
