DESPITE the rise in COVID cases here, Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday hinted at relaxing COVID-19 induced curbs further. “We’ve lifted the weekend curfew. After

analysing the situation, we will decide on further relaxations in COVID19 norms, if needed”, news agency ANI quoted CM Bommai as saying. CM Bommai’s statement comes a day after the state added 50,210 fresh infections to its cumulative COVID-19 tally. This was the second time the state has crossed 50,000 daily infections. On May 5, 2021, the state had reported 50,112 infections. However, back then the daily fatalities were quite high with 346 deaths on a single day, whereas on Sunday it was 19. In its daily bulletin, the state’s health department said 22,842 people were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 31,21,274. The active cases in the state stood at 3,57,796. The infections on Sunday were mainly driven by Bengaluru, which contributed more than half of the total infections — 26,299. The city also reported eight deathsOther districts too had fresh cases including 4,359 in Mysuru, 1,963 in Tumakuru, 1,922 in Hassan, 955 in Dharwad, 947 in Udupi, 925 in Bengaluru Rural and 904 in Ballari. There were deaths in 10 districts, including eight in Bengaluru and two each in Shivamogga and Tumakuru. There were zero fatalities in 21 districts. The positivity rate for the day was 22.77 per cent and the case fatality rate was 0.03 per cent. भीम आर्मी प्रमुख चंद्रशेखर आजाद ‘रावण’ के बाद अब डॉक्टर कफील खान (Kafeel Khan) भी गोरखपुर (Gorakhpur Seat) से मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ (Yogi Adityanath) के खिलाफ चुनाव लड़ सकते हैं. गोरखपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज में 2017 में कथित रूप से ऑक्सीजन की कमी के कारण कई बच्चों की मौत होने की घटना के बाद डॉक्टर कफील खान चर्चा में आए थे. कफील खान ने न्यूज एजेंसी PTI से बातचीत में कहा, ‘मैं गोरखपुर से मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ के खिलाफ चुनाव लड़ सकता हूं. कई दलों से मेरी बात चल रही है. अगर सब कुछ ठीक रहा और कोई पार्टी मुझे टिकट देती है तो मैं तैयार हूं.’ इस सवाल पर कि कौन सी पार्टी उनके संपर्क में है, खान ने कहा कि वह अभी पार्टी का नाम नहीं बताएंगे. गोरखपुर में विधानसभा चुनाव के छठे चरण में आगामी तीन मार्च को मतदान होगा.

खान ने आरोप लगाया कि उन्हें अगस्त 2017 में गोरखपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज में कथित रूप से ऑक्सीजन की कमी के कारण हुई 80 बच्चों की मौत के मामले में ‘बलि का बकरा’ बनाया गया खान गोरखपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज में हुई उस त्रासद घटना के वक्त वहां तैनात थे. इस मामले में उन पर लापरवाही का आरोप लगाते हुए उन्हें गिरफ्तार किया गया था. बाद में उन्हें बर्खास्त कर दिया गया था. खान ने कहा कि वह फेसबुक, ट्विटर इत्यादि सोशल मीडिया मंच पर सक्रिय हैं और इस वक्त वह मुंबई में हैं जहां से वह हैदराबाद और बेंगलुरु जाएंगे और वहां वह अपनी किताब ‘द गोरखपुर हॉस्पिटल ट्रेजेडी- ए डॉक्टर्स मेमोरी ऑफर डेडली मेडिकल क्राइसिस’ का प्रमोशन करेंगे. यह किताब गोरखपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज त्रासदी पर ही आधारित है. उन्होंने दावा किया ‘मुझे प्रताड़ित करने का सिलसिला अभी रूका नहीं है. पिछली 17 दिसंबर को मेरी किताब का विमोचन होने के बाद पुलिस 20 दिसंबर और फिर 28 दिसंबर तथा इस महीने भी मेरे घर पहुंची और दावा किया कि मैं गोरखपुर जिले के राजघाट थाने का हिस्ट्रीशीटर हूं और विधानसभा चुनाव की वजह से ऐसे लोगों का सत्यापन किया जा रहा है.’ खान ने दावा किया कि गोरखपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज में ऑक्सीजन की आपूर्ति बाधित होने के बाद उन्होंने व्यक्तिगत प्रयास कर ऑक्सीजन सिलेंडर एकत्र किए थे जिससे अनेक बच्चों की जान बची. उन्होंने कहा कि अगले दिन अखबारों में उन्हें एक नायक के तौर पर पेश किया था, मगर इसके बावजूद उन्हें निशाना बनाया गया, जबकि बाकी आरोपियों को छोड़ दिया गया.

बिहार सरकार के गठबंधन में शामिल बीजेपी और जनता दल यूनाइटेड (Janata Dal United) की यूपी चुनाव में राहें अलग- अलग हैं और जेडीयू ने यूपी में अकेले चुनाव लड़ने का ऐलान के बाद आज मंगलवार को लखनऊ में 20 उम्मीदवारों की सूची भी जारी कर दी है. बता दें बिहार एनडीए के दो सबसे बड़े घटक दल बीजेपी और जेडीयू के बीच कुछ दिनों से जुबानी जंग चल रही थी. अब यूपी में मैदानी जंग भी होती दिख रही है. जेडीयू के यूपी चुनाव में प्रत्याशी उतारने की घोषणा पहले से कर रखी थी. आज उसने अपने 20 प्रत्याशियों की पहली सूची जारी कर दी है. यह सूची जेडीयू के यूपी प्रदेश अध्यक्ष अनूप सिंह पटेल ने जारी की है. प्रदेश अध्यक्ष अनूप पटेल ने बताया कि वाराणसी के रोहनिया विधानसभा से सुशील कश्यप, गोसाईगंज अयोध्या से मनोज वर्मा, मड़िहॉन मिर्जापुर से अरविन्द पटेल, सोनभद्र की धोरावल से अनीता कोल, उन्नाव बंगरमऊ से राबिया बेगम, प्रयागराज की प्रतापपुर विधानसभा सीट से नीरज सिंह पटेल, करछना सीट से अजीत प्रताप सिंह, बलिया की बेरिया सीट से रामेश चन्द्र उपाध्याय, श्रावस्ती की भिनगा सीट से राजेश कुमार शुक्ला, सोनभद्र राबर्ट्सगंज से अतुल प्रताप पटेल, सिद्धार्थनगर की सोहरतगढ़ सीट से ओमप्रकाश गुप्ता, मडियाहूं जौनपुर से सुषील कुमार पटेल, मिर्जापुर की चुनार सीट से संजय सिंह पटेल, ललितपुर की महरौनी सीट से कैलाश नारायण, देवरिया की भटपार रानी से राम आश्रय राजभर, कानपुर देहात की भोगनीपुर सीट से सतीश सचान, प्रतापगढ़ की रानीगंज विधानसभा से संजय राज पटेल, अमेठी की जगदीशपुर सीट से दिनेश कुमार, रामपुर की विलासपुर सीट से जगदीश शरण पटेल, लखनऊ की कैंट विधानसभा से आषीश सक्सेना को उम्मींदवार बनाया गया है. जेडीयू के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष अनूप पटेल ने कहा कि जल्द ही अन्य प्रत्याशियों की और भी सूची जारी की जाएगी. उन्होंने कहा सभी प्रत्याशियों को जीताने के लिए पूरी ताकत लगायी जाएगी. जेडीयू का यह प्रयास है कि अधिक से अधिक सीटों पर अपने उम्मींदवार उतारें.

समाजवादी पार्टी प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव और समाजवादी पार्टी के नेताओं पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि वे ‘समाजवादी’ नहीं बल्कि ‘तमंचावादी’ हैं. योगी ने ट्वीट कर अखिलेश यादव पर तंज कसते हुए कहा कि “जिन्हें पाकिस्तान दुश्मन नहीं लगता, जिन्ना दोस्त लगता है. उनकी शिक्षा-दीक्षा और दृष्टि पर क्या ही कहा जाए. वे स्वंय को समाजवादी कहते हैं, लेकिन सत्य यही है कि इनके नस-नस में ‘तमंचावाद’ दौड़ रहा है.” बता दें कि इससे पहले योगी आदित्यनाथ ने उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए नाहिद हसन को पार्टी के उम्मीदवार के रूप में नामित करने के लिए सपा की जमकर आलोचना की थी. योगी ने कहा था, “यही उनका सामाजिक न्याय है.” यूपी विधायक नाहिद हसन के खिलाफ गैंगस्टर एक्ट के तहत दर्ज मामले में शामली से पुलिस ने उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया है, इसके बाद उन्हें जेल भेज दिया गया है.

संबित पात्रा ने भी अखिलेश पर साधा था निशाना

बता दें कि सोमवार को भाजपा नेता संबित पात्रा ने अखिलेश यादव पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा था कि, ‘योगी आदित्यनाथ और पीएम मोदी के नेतृत्व में आज उत्तर प्रदेश सबसे सुरक्षित प्रदेश है. साल 2017 के बाद यूपी में विकास हुआ है. उन्होंने कहा कि एक तरफ जहां पूरा देश उत्तर प्रदेश का स्थापना दिवस मना रहा है. वहीं सपा नेता और यूपी के पूर्व मुख्य मंत्री अखिलेश यादव ने एक इंटरव्यू में कहा कि पाकिस्तान भारत का दुश्मन नहीं है.’

Covaxin maker Bharat Biotech Chairman Krishna Ella, his co-founder wife Suchitra Ella. Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

on Tuesday also refused to accept the Padma Shri award conferred to her by the government of India. As per news agency PTI, the singing legend who is also known as Sandhya Mukhopadhyay refused an offer of a Padma Shri award when she was contacted by central government officials telephonically for her acquiesce. evening. Mukherjee’s name was not mentioned in the list of the 117 recipients of Padma Shri this year. Mukherjee’s daughter Soumi Sengupta said the veteran singer told the senior official who called from Delhi that she was not willing to be named as a Padma Shri recipient on being contacted seeking her consent to being named a Padma Shri in the Republic Day awards list. “At the age of 90, with a singing career spanning over about eight decades, being chosen for Padma Shri is demeaning for a singer of her stature,” Sengupta said.“Padma Shri is more deserving for a junior artiste, not `Gitasree’ Sandhya Mukhopadhay. Her family and all the lovers of her songs feel,” the daughter said. A vast number of netizens supported Mukherjee’s decision. The singer considered for long a prima donna of music in Bengal has also sung for several Hindi movie music directors including S D Burman, Anil Biswas, Madan Mohan, Roshan and Salil Choudhary. Mukherjee received `Banga Bibhushan’, and National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.

Elderly couple killed with sharp objects in Karnataka’s Davanagere

An 82-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife were found dead at their residence in Karnataka’s Davanagere district on Tuesday.
