4 new cases of Omicron detected in Hyderabad, Telangana tally rises to 7

FOUR more persons have tested positive for the Omicron COVID-19 variant in Hyderabad, taking the total number of Omicron cases to seven in Telangana, the Health Department said on Thursday. State Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivas Rao said three persons who tested positive for the variant were from Kenya, while another Indian-origin person arrived from an ‘at-risk’ country.
INDIA registered 7,447 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country recorded 391 new COVID-19 deaths, taking the total number of deaths to 4,76,869, the ministry said. Active COVID-19 cases in the country stand at 86,415.

India currently has a total of 86,415 active COVID-19 cases. Kerala has the highest active COVID-19 cases at 34,836, followed by Maharashtra (10,372). West Bengal has 7,506 active COVID-19 cases and Tamil Nadu has 7,476 active COVID-19 cases. Andaman and Nicobar Islands has three active cases, while Lakshadweep has four active cases.

A 19-year-old man working as a gaurakshak has been arrested allegedly for trying to stop forest officials from moving stray cattle that a vigilante group had gathered on forest land in Pune. The group had gathered around 150-200 cattle, according to a forest officer. An assistant police inspector said that the cattle were kept there “illegally” as it’s government land.
Over 3,500 road accidents due to potholes in 2020: Govt to Parliament
As many as 3,564 road accidents happened due to potholes in the year 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India told the Parliament. It added that 4,775 similar accidents occurred in the year 2019. The ministry was responding to a question posed in the Parliament by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Jayadev Galla.

The contestants are currently in isolation in Puerto Rico, where the finale was scheduled to take place. The finale will be rescheduled at Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot within the next 90 days.
